The Ashy Altar is a mysterious place which will be shown to the player by the Ghosty Guide on Day 3. Craft altars, an Owl Ghosty, and an oddly dusty sculpture are located here. Offering [Golden Nuggets - they no longer give knowledge points as of v10] or a variety of foods to the craft altars enables the player to learn bushcraft knowledge, used for crafting tools, clothing and camp upgrades.
Craft Altars[]
In the first area of this location are four craft altars at which a wide variety of foods, [as well as Golden Nuggets and Golden Sprinkles - Golden Nuggets no longer give knowledge points as of v10, Golden Sprinkles need verification], can be bestowed to increase the player's Bushcraft knowledge. The Spring altar is unlocked when the player first arrives in this location, and the subsequent altars unlock after the player learns 4 recipes on the previous season's altar. The Winter altar must be repaired with three missing altar pieces before it can be used. That is, the player can repair the Winter altar completely before being able to bestow any items to it, if 4 recipes have not been learned on the Autumn altar.
Bestowed Knowledge[]
The amount of bestowed knowledge an altar holds is shown on the alter as empty holes that fill with pink color. Each filled hole corresponds to +1 knowledge. There are a total of 14 holes on each altar, but only 8 holes (or 7 on the Winter altar) need to be filled to learn all recipes available.
The Game Mode affects how much knowledge value is required to learn all bushcraft recipes.
- In Sedate mode, the altar knowledge totals never decrease when a recipe is learned.
- In Normal mode, the recipe level of a learned recipe is subtracted from the total knowledge in the altar.
- For example, if an altar holds 8 knowledge, and a level 3 recipe (like the Stone Hammer) is learned, the altar's total knowledge will be reduced to 5.
- In Survival mode, the altar knowledge values reset to 0 after every learned recipe, regardless of that recipe's level.
- It is recommended to not over-bestow items to altars when playing on Survival mode, as that is a waste of knowledge.
Bushcraft Knowledge[]
The bushcraft knowledge taught by each crafting altar corresponds with what each season encourages the player to focus on.

Item Knowledge Values[]
Items with a knowledge value of 0 (like the Reddy Monstrashroom) will display the bestow prompt in the inventory, but will not trigger the animation or be removed from the inventory. Items with a knowledge value of 0.5 (like all Mushrooms) will trigger the animation but not increase the altars' knowledge values. Both item types have been omitted from the following list.
[Golden Nuggets are likely the best item to bestow to altars in Sedate or Normal mode. Each nugget will max out the altar's knowledge value, they are easily picked up in the Crystal Streams, and they are not needed for survival. - no longer works as of v10]

Owl Ghosty[]
"Terwooty hooty... Goldified rocks I request..."
The Owl Ghosty is located in an area through the middle path, then down the right path. Upon bestowing gold nuggets to the Owl Ghosty, random sets of items will circle through the vessels. When the player stops the roulette, they can keep the four items that remain in the vessels.
Oddly Dusty Sculpture[]
The oddly dusty sculpture is located in an area through the middle path, then down the left path. The four pedestals in front of the sculpture can be activated by the player. If activated in the order shown on the Foresty Sculpture (from top to bottom & left to right), the player receives Bestowal Amulet, which allows you to learn recipes without offering any food.
Time Used[]
Visiting the Ashy Altar takes a quarter of a day.

Offering Survival Mode
In this game mode, there will be four knowledge altars.
Each of the four altars offer the knowledge about a designated tool. After an altar bestowed it knowledge it will be void. After all four altars are used up there will be no new knowledge to learn.
The only way to receive new knowledge is to forget and re-explore this place. Which each cycle of exploring-bestowing-forgetting the likelihood of bestowing knowledge after offering food is reduced. In the first cycle, after the first exploration, the likelihood seems to be 100%. Offering items with a higher value e.g. gold nugget increases the likelihood.
